RACE REPORT
The legendary Irish trainer Vincent O'Brien had to sit this one out because of an 18 month alleged doping ban and chose instead to go salmon fishing on the banks of a County Cork river. However, his wife Jacqueline, along with 2 daughters Elizabeth aged 7 and Jane aged 2, were present at The Curragh to witness the victory of Chamour (SR 2013), the horse Vincent is alleged to have doped. Chamour, part owned by wealthy Yorkshireman Mr Walter Burmann, saw off the challenge of the 3/1 on favourite Alcaeus, who had previously finished runner-up in the Epsom Derby behind St Paddy (SR 2047), by a comfortable length. As he received his prize Walter Burmann hoped that common sense would prevail and that the Stewards would reinstate Vincent.
